In my attempt to run away from reality, to leave behind my life that preceded this day, I rediscovered my passions for culture. There’s more to our lives than the daily routines, than 9 to 5’s, than obligations and rules. I’ve learned what it really means to take risks, to fully indulge in something unfamiliar and challenging. To force yourself to step out of that damn bubble and experience life’s endless opportunities. There’s an entire world beyond our front doors. To not step past the doormat might as well be a crime, for you are preventing yourself from truly living. This is what I was born for. To explore. To discover. To document, photograph, express, and educate. I’m learning more and more about opening my mind. And so far, it’s done me a world of good.
I wrote this September 12, 2010, after returning from Eastern Europe and before leaving for New York. I lost motivation for quite some time, but I think finding this just now has put things back into perspective. Can’t stop won’t stop.
